Like most other music fanatics, I am a sucker for lists. I shamelessly snatch up and devour magazines with the 500 Best Singles, 100 Greatest Albums, 1001 CDs You Must Own Before You Die,  and the thousands of yearly “best of” lists. Despite this, I also find them to be a slightly annoying exercise in self indulgence.
