Colour Me Impressed

12 Minutes – July 12th 2009

We all grew up on a steady diet of MTV’s 120 Minutes. Many a Sunday evening was spent zoned out in my parent’s living room, scribbling artist names on scraps of paper or notebook covers. This is our condensed, 21st century version where we highlight 4 videos (roughly 12 minutes) of visual goodness. (NOTE: We apologize for the delay in posting – we suffered a bit of a web hosting hiccup last night).

Cymbals Eat Guitars – Wind Phoenix (Live on KEXP)

Local Natives – Cecilia

We recently got tipped to this new LA band. Their cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Cecilia” leads us to predict great things.

The Lodger – I Think I Need You

A new track from these nice-guy, indie pop revivalists.

Twighlight Sad – I Became A Prostitute

Weekly Round Up – July 11th 2009

12 Minutes – July 6th 2009

Another installment of 12 Minutes – four more hand-selected music videos to help waste away your work day.

Holiday Shores – Phones Don’t Feud

In case you haven’t noticed, we here at Colour Me Impressed are a sucker for a jangly guitar. So that’s why we (or at least I) am so excited about the Holiday Shores record that will be coming out this August on twosyllable records. The Needle Drop summed up their sound nicely, “The trebled six-string echoes of Abe Vigoda and the Walkmen are a good comparison, but you might find Holiday’s pop sensibility to be a little more straightforward.”

Wavves – No Hope Kids

Nathan Williams, the only person who is really “in” Wavves looks to be about 10 years old. And based on this video, the on-stage drug freakout shouldn’t have really be a surprise. However, it looks likes he’s having a good time, and the song’s still catchy, even if Psychedelic Horseshit hates him.

Crocodiles – Summer of Hate

Oh Crocodiles, your record is so good, even if you really bite hard on The Jesus and Mary Chain’s style (and what isn’t JAMC is Echo and the Bunnymen). But who are we kidding, we don’t particularly care.

Sweet – Wig Wam Bam

“Cocaine is a hell of a drug.” – Rick James

Weekly Round Up – July 5th 2009

The news that struck us as important/interesting now condensed for your intake and review.

Weekly Round Up – June 28th 2009

We’re a little late this week (again). I know we’ve promise to get our act together before, but the lure of the summer sun proved too strong this weekend. Anyway, here’s what caught our eye last week.
