Weekly Round Up – May 17th 2009
- Mos Def gives a his playlist to NY Times and Fucked Up’s Chemistry of Common Life shows up on it. As an aside, I enjoy that the Times now simply prints their name as ********.
- Devon’s favorite record last year gets co-opted to sell what we are told is really terrible beer.
- The Shins’ line-up changes: as a result their live performance will be minus some personality, but on the upside Portland is getting more tacos.
- To the guy on Craigslist who didn’t email me back about where to pick up Animal Collective tickets: jokes on you jerk – Stereogum posted their show at the 9:30 Club.
- New Vivian Girls Moped Girls 7″ out now on Rough Trade. It’s limited edition, so get two and sell one on ebay for a fafillion dollars
- Matador says Sonic Youth has added a 2nd DC Show for July 7th at the 9:30 Club.
- This is unintentionally hillarious. John Joseph aka the lead singer of the Cro-Mags offers some -umm- insight on how to get ripped at, stay ripped and complete an Iron Man.
John Joseph New York City Urban Warfare Cro-Mag Training from Polygraph Productions on Vimeo.
- Aquarium Drunkard has a Built to Spill show from ‘99 available for download. Get yer air gee-tar ready!
- Stream Wilco (the album)
- At Largehearted Boy, Dean Wareham offers up his “book notes” for his excellent autobiography, Black Postcards. I still have a notebook where I scribbled all the artists, albums, and tracks Wareham name checks throughout the book. This is a little taste.
- NBC’s Brian Williams scores some indie cred (and then loses some points for naming the feature “BriTunes”)
- Stuart Murdoch chats it up with the Pop Cop.
