Weekly Round Up – May 3rd 2009
Apparently, we all decided to engage in intense life changing and/or schedule changing events over the last few weeks. We’ll do our best to coordinate our “real” lives in the future so that we can continue to bring you the goodness. In the meantime, here is what is happening around the musical web.
- It’s no secret that we’ve been geeking out over the Pains of Being Pure at Heart for awhile now. Here’s the new video for their track “Young Adult Friction.”
- Everyone has been loving on Light in the Attic’s excellent reissue of Black Monk time.
- Southern Shelter has mp3’s of Dinosaur Jr.’s 4/20 performance at the 40 Watt.
- Sonic Youth announced their summer tour dates.
- Army Navy has a new video for their track “Saints.” Jump suits, hard hats, druid cloaks, band fights, and booze. Oh yes!
ARMY NAVY – “SAINTS” from the hassle on Vimeo.
- Make your own Daniel Johnson pillow case!
- Wilco and an inaudable Feist hook up for a cover of Woody Guthrie’s “The Jolly Banker.” In other Wilco news, Withe band has released that their new album will be entitled “Wilco (the album).”
- Paste Magazine features “You Talkin’ to Me? A Survey of Songs by Musicians, About Other Musicians.” The list is super short. There’s gotta be more, right?
- Neutral Milk Hotel wants your help saving the Paragon Carousel. How about some new tunes in exchange?
- The American Idols sing the Apples in Stereo while shilling for Ford. Really.
- Best Buy may start selling vinyl. Weird.
- I’m still trying to wrap my brain around this, but GZA and the Black Lips have recorded a collaboration.
- The Boy Least Likely To released a video for their track “When Life Gives Me Lemons I Make Lemonade.” No you’re not watching Nick Jr.
