Condo Fucks – Fuckbook
In the wake of digital recording technology many recent bands (Times New Viking, Waaves, et al.) are gaining notoriety (and blogger hype) for using tape hiss and tinny guitar fuzz as an aesthetic choice. March 10th will see the release of another album of 4-track buzz, as Condo Fucks release Fuckbook on Matador Records. While the band’s official bio claims them to be the “legendary New London, CT trio,” the group is actually comprised of the members of Yo La Tengo who have decided to show those blog hyped whipper snappers a thing or two. The group spins through 11 ultra lo-fi covers including the Small Faces, Richard Hell, the Beach Boys, and the Flaming Groovies in 30 minutes. The album’s title is clearly a nod to Yo La Tengo’s very subdued (and absolutely fantastic) cover album Fakebook. Definitely worth a listen.
