Colour Me Impressed

Animal Collective – Merriweather Post Pavilion

Although the last two full length albums (Feels and Strawberry Jam) saw the band dipping its toes in the shallow reef of the pop ocean, as a rule, Animal Collective albums require a good deal of patience to fully appreciate.  And while you’re still not going to convince your friends with A.D.D. that Animal Collective = the meaning of life, there is a good chance that a whole lot of people are going to finally see the bandwagon this time around.

Merriweather Post Pavilion reminds me of a Friendly Giant stomping through a flowery field of nauseating cuteness; With every crashing step, a new blindingly colorful hook explodes, overloading senses, and filling the air with a confetti so dense, you’re left with only two options: either puke your silly guts out, or dance around with your arms wide open in complete abandon.

I trust you know what to do.
